Luxury House And Dog Sitting With Sea View

An once in a lifetime experience to house and dog sit at Scotland’s most beautiful sea shore.

“No ways! What a stunning view!” We sat in the lounge with the house owners looking through a king-size window directly onto Hunter’s Quai, where Holy Loch and the River Clyde meet. The vast waters enclose rugged coasts of the rough south-west region of Scotland which is one of the most beautiful parts of the United Kingdom.

We were to be staying two weeks at this wonderful place where we would house sit and care for Mac, a playful and kind, fox-red Labrador. Vlou and Mac were instant buddies and even shared their beds with each other. Both no. 1 love in life is FOOD, no. 2 sniffing out new paths. So that fitted perfectly fine.

We were left with a house and dog for two weeks while the owners spent their holidays in Thailand. As soon as they had left we checked out the local tourist office and returned well-informed with an abundance of maps for walks in Argyll Forest Park which surrounds Dunoon and stretches all the way to the edge of the Scottish Highlands.

But first of all, I’ve to tell you how we arrived in Dunoon as already the way to get to Dunnon is breathtaking. From Glasgow you can either drive through the mountainous Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park which takes you more than two hours or you take the ferry to save time. We chose the ferry and what a stunning ride we had by uncharacteristically sunny weather!

And during our time of our house sit we could observe the ferry from Greenoch to Dunoon and back pulling in and out of the harbor to conquer the Clyde River by any weather conditions from the comfortable armchair of our living room.

There couldn’t have possibly been a better place to be introduced to Scotland as a first timer and we thoroughly enjoyed our two weeks in Dunoon and surroundings. It’s certainly one of the best house sits we ever had thanks to the Small family who trustfully offered us this awesome house sit. “Thanks a lot for your hospitality and a big hug to Mac, our dear four-legged friend!”
