FAQs about hotels in San Sebastián

Amazing Coastline and Historical Beauty

San Sebastian is a famous beach resort in the north of Spain with picturesque coastline, vibrant nightlife and amazing Basque gastronomy.

Playa de la Concha is one of the world’s most popular city beaches, ideal for watersports lovers. Rent a surfboard on Zurriola beach or just relax on a cosy lounge chair under your umbrella.

Established as the culinary capital of Spain, San Sebastian features a variety of bars and restaurants serving delicious pintxos (Basque-style tapas), fresh seafood and fine wine. According to Spanish tradition, you should have one tapa and a wine in one bar, then move on to the next bar.

The tree-covered hill standing just across the gulf is called Urgull and has spectacular views over the bay and city. Parte Vieja is the old part of the town where you can mix with the locals and visit some of the city’s most interesting historical attractions.

San Sebastian Airport is located 12 miles east, so it's a short journey into the city itself. Booking.com offers a choice of accommodations ranging from luxury hotels to guest houses, apartments and budget hostels.

San Sebastian is really a great city for views: you have 2 mountains accessible on foot with great views on the bay (concha), the city and the ocean. There is also nice architecture (Art Nouveau), a great basque history/art museum (San Telmo) and a maritime museum with an aquarium. And there is a great beach for surfing (Zurriola). So on the boulevards you can see side by side a surfer with surfboard and a very smartly dressed couple walking toward the Kuursaal.

    Parks and beaches are beautiful.

Parks and beaches are beautiful. Food at some bars and restaurants is phenomenally good! I didn’t have time to visit museums, but I expect they are up to the quality of other aspects of public life. And people on the street and in the bars seemed to be enjoying themselves a lot. (Although everyone seems to love a holiday weekend.)

The city is pretty and clean.

The city is pretty and clean. The food is excellent and varied leaning heavily to sea food. It is easy enough to walk around, there is taxi service for some of the attractions not downtown e.g. the stadium. Let me say, however, it is not as inexpensive as other places in Spain. Food can be pricey, especially some of the sampling meals in the restaurants. My Spanish is pretty okay, but, believe me Basque is not at all similar, fortunately, most menus, etc. are written in Spanish, French and English as well. The people are friendly and will work with you.

Beautiful city with amazing beaches, charming architecture, tons of amazing spots for pintxos, and a laid-back vibe. Public buses worked fine and there were taxis readily available during the day, but it's small enough to walk almost anywhere.

Loved San Sebastian and will return. Apartment was really well placed for the beach - pity we didn't see there was beach chairs till we were packing to leave. Very spacious and airy and good for drying clothes in the little courtyard - could have done with having some info leaflets about SS. We took a boat to the island and the atmosphere there was amazing - I would definitely recommend!

Beautiful city beside spectacular beaches and scenery. Great shopping, great food and friendly people. I could live there easily! It rains a little more there than other parts of Spain but there's so much going on it doesn't really matter. It's a place you can enjoy no matter the weather.

Hotel Sansebay was a nice boutique hotel in a tucked away area of the Old Town therefore in a great location within walking distance to a lot of the eateries. Staff were amazing, always willing to assist, friendly and helpful. They offered a nice Welcome drink and went through the details of the hotel amenities and recommendations in a nice relaxed format. I would stay at Sansebay again however in a different room as our standard room was too small. Look forward to seeing you again in the future.

What can I say about this hotel other than everything is fantastic? Spacious and clean rooms with views (if you choose that) to “Playa de la Concha”. Waking up in the morning, opening the blinds and being able to observe “playa de la Concha” is priceless. Bathrooms are huge and super clean, all mirrors. Hotel staff was very helpful to provide accommodation to my sister with disabilities. Excellent service at the restaurant. Walking distance to everything in Donostia-San Sebastian.

The apartment was great. Wonderful layout, thoughtfully appointed and worked great for our family of four. Comfy beds! Lots of room. Only time during two weeks in Spain that we were all able to actually unpack our clothes! Nice kitchen set up - great for a family with food allergies that had to cook several meals. The owner was great. It was so fantastic to deal with a real person. Her responses were quick and she was so thoughtful about advice in the city!!

We loved staying in the lovely old building, much nicer than 4 star hotels, more a boutique hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. We were very lucky with the weather so could swim opposite the hotel. A beautiful walk in to the old town at night for tapas, with the see on our left and very attractive architecture to our right. We liked everything and will return. It was in a great location, lovely cafés for breakfast/lunch also some nice boutiques around.

A spotlessly clean, quiet, spacious room in a boutique hotel which is located within 10/15 minutes walk of the old town, promenade and beach. A good breakfast was included in the price and tea/ coffee was available for free in the lobby. Secure parking was available to park our car which had expensive bikes on the back. We arrived earlier than expected but the welcoming, helpful receptionist allowed us to check in early, which was greatly appreciated.

Super location with amazing views of the cathedral. The roof terrace was a bonus for us to have a glass of wine in the evening before heading out to dinner. The room was spacious and super clean. We ate at the Hotel restaurant in the evenings because the town was crazy busy. The breakfasts were fantastic and the coffee was one of the best we have had in Spain. The staff were super friendly. Friendly, private hotel with personality, rather than a boring chain establishment. The location was perfect on the outskirts of San Sebastián and the 16 bus offered an excellent service right into the centre. We loved our balcony and the sea view. Breakfast was good, for the price, and we enjoyed a slice of cake one afternoon. Good car parking, which is always important.

The hotel is new, is well decorated but is too little far from downtown. I reserved here because was the only hotel in San Sebastián that included a pool, but when I arrived they said was no season for the pool. The staff very helpful and fully speaking more than 2 or 3 languages. The breakfast buffet was good, but if you stay more than 3 days is boring. Thanks

The hotel is part of a chain, and we have stayed at other hotels in their system elsewhere in Spain. It's a good twenty minute walk to the hear of the old city, but otherwise it was clean and efficient. The front desk staff spoke our language (English), and were happy to provide maps and call cabs and such. The restaurant was quite nice and the food good.
