In South Affrica, close to Crocodile River and Malalane Gate in the South of Kruger National Park, I saw this lioness strolling through the tall grass. The vegetation was lush and lime green with orange dots of spring flowers which gives this picture a peaceful ambience in the wild.
A cheetah cub in Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, South Africa, separated a little from its three siblings and mom and allowed me a photo as its body was reflected in the puddle. Out of fun I turned the picture by 180°.

Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, South Africa

Fortunately I was close enough to this Cheetah mom who slaked her thirst with three cubs at the almost dried up waterhole in the bone dry semi-desert of the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park in South Africa, to notice her beautiful amber eyes. She kept watching me slightly boastfully which enabled me to capture the fascinating moment with my camera. Continue reading “Amber Eyes Of Cheetah Mom”
Nothing does touch me more than young prospering wildlife as seen in Kruger National Park especially in springtime. Even more when I keep in mind that many of them, like lions in the wild, are at the brim of extinction like many other beautiful species.
Look into the charming eyes of this young lioness. This photo is very precious to me.

One of my favorite wild cats is undoubtedly the graceful cheetah. Unfortunately a new survey shows that the numbers of Cheetahs in the wild are declining much more rapidly than previously estimated.
We met a few cheetah mams with their cubs on the South African side of the Kgalagadi Frontier Park.
Can this unfortunate development be reversed in time?
Visiting the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park in South Africa we encountered the graceful fastest land animal on Earth, the Cheetah. Being at the rim of extinction its a rare experience to see cheetahs in the wild.
Over the last hundred years their numbers dropped from hundred thousand to merely only 7,100 adult cheetahs remaining in the wild as they lost more than ninety percent of there natural habitat to human populations.
Best place to visit for Cheetah and Lion sightings is the Kgalagadi Transfrontier National Park. A game park full of wildlife in the semi-desert of South Africa and Botswana (formerly called Kalahari Gemsbok National Park), souring hot and unforgivably harsh.
Why do I sit in a car when its 40+ degrees with no shade to speak of for hours on end?!

After a hilarious play with her siblings, the cheetah cub looks at us as if she’d say: “Come on guys! What are you sitting there lazily in your vehicle. Get out here and play with me!”I took the photo during our memorable house sit of a Horse Riding Safari Lodge in Mashatu Game Reserve, Botswana.
