Discover Ancient Paths in Luxembourg, Esch-sur-Sûre

Esch-sur-Sûre is a medieval town with a castle, which first written evidence was found in an act of 773 AD. The settlement lays at a meander of the Sûre-River (sûre means sour) in the heart of Luxembourg in the tree-rich, mountainous region of the Ardennes.

On a drive from South to North through Europe (or the other way around), it makes a lovely stopover for several days of hiking or cycling around and water sports on the ten kilometers long Upper Sûre dam within the equally named Nature Park.

There is plentiful accommodation available. We experienced a private and dog-friendly self-catering cabin with a large terrace at the camping Bissen in Heiderscheider-Grund for a very reasonable price of 60 € for both of us for the night + 6 € for the dog.
